This course provides the student with the theoretical and historical foundation for practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Students explore the unique and common roles of Advanced Practice Nurses, the evolution of the profession, and the development of the Doctorate in Nursing Practice. Students analyze contemporary advanced practice issues and the responsibilities of the advanced practice role from economic, social, ethical, and professional perspectives.
