HI - 307 Great Revolutions

A comparative study of modern revolutions, beginning with the paradigmatic French Revolution of 1789-1799 and including the American, Russian, Mexican and Chinese revolutions. The course considers such problems as the relationship between ideology and revolution, the relative importance of political, social and economic causes of revolutions, and the connections between revolution, violence, and war.
