TR - 221 Theatre History and World Cultures I

Credits: 3

A global look at the evolution of theatre and performance from early origins in pre-recorded history to the late 16th/early 17th centuries. This course explores how theatre has been created and consumed in diverse settings world wide. Attention will be paid to the trajectory of Western theatre, with special focus given to Eastern, African, and Indigenous forms, examining the cultural, religious, economic, political, and social influences that informed each. Course fee.
