A comparative study of modern revolutions and examination of what constitutes a revolution, whether political, industrial, scientific, or otherwise. The course considers such problems as the relationship between ideology and revolution, the relative importance of political, social and economic causes of revolutions, and the connections between empire, war, and innovation.
