WC - 151 Latinos in the U.S.Credits: 3
Cross-listed with SP 251 . Introduces students to the cultural diversity, histories, and experiences of Latinos in the United States through contemporary texts, literature, folklore, music, dance, and film. The course examines a number of topics and issues that are key to understanding contemporary Latinos, including immigration, assimilation, language, education, employment, contributions, and cultural resistance. This course requires off-campus activities. Course fee.
For SP 251 students, selected course materials and activities may be conducted in Spanish to provide an opportunity for students to develop their Spanish language skills while studying Hispanic/Latino culture. WC 151 students complete the corresponding materials in English.
