Formerly BI-230. This course introduces the basic fundamentals of classical (Mendelian), population, and medical genetics. Topics of study include: the chromosomal basis of inheritance, population genetic frequencies, probability and gene expression patterns, and the genetic basis of disease. Recent advances in medicine and biotechnology, including genetic counseling, DNA fingerprinting, and recombinant DNA methods will also be studied. Course fee.
