Courses toward the joint DNP/MBA degrees are offered through both the Department of Nursing and Health and the Masters of Business Administration program. The DNP degree is completed over seven (7) semesters. The MBA degree is then completed over the following 5 semesters. Both degrees can be completed over a total of 13 semesters. If a student wants to complete a single degree after matriculation, he/she must petition both program directors and request re-classification as a single degree student.

The FT Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership with MBA Program curriculum is based on the sequential completion of 20-21 required courses (62-69 credit hours) plus the completion of the Scholarly Project, over 11 semesters or three (3) calendar years.  There are no free elective requirements in the program.

The PT Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership with MBA Program curriculum is based on the sequential completion of the same 20-21 required courses (62-69 credit hours) plus the completion of the Scholarly Project, but over 17 semesters or five (5) calendar years.  There are no free elective requirements in the program.

Program Structure

Executive Leadership Tracks

For the Executive Leadership tracks, the Director of the DNP Program will perform a gap analysis of all Post-Master’s applicant transcripts to determine the number of hours of clinical/practicum hours attained in the MSN Program. The DNP Program will provide up to 1,000 post-baccalaureate practice hours as part of a supervised Special Topics course. The practicum experiences in NU 813 are guided by the DNP competencies (AACN, 2006), AACN DNP Essentials (AACN, 2011), DNP Program Student Learning Outcomes, and individual course student learning outcomes.
