All degree candidates are required to complete the eleven core courses:

MA - 121 Calculus I: MOT/Mathematics Credits: 3
MA - 122 Calculus II Credits: 3
MA - 223 Calculus III Credits: 3
MA - 224 Calculus IV Credits: 3
MA - 231 Discrete Mathematics Credits: 3
MA - 243 Differential Equations Credits: 3
MA - 301 Probability Theory Credits: 3
MA - 331 Linear Algebra Credits: 3
MA - 453 Senior Coordinating Seminar Credits: 3
CS - 121 Introduction to Computer Programming Credits: 3
PH - 201 General Physics I: Mechanics and Heat Credits: 5
OR
PH - 211 General Physics I: Mechanics and Heat (no Lab) Credits: 4

One of the following:

MA - 445 Advanced Calculus Credits: 3
MA - 471 Abstract Algebra Credits: 3

Four elective courses selected from the following:

CS - 122 Object-Oriented Programming Credits: 3
MA - 260 History of Mathematics Credits: 3
any mathematics courses at the 300 and 400 levels

Required Courses

Providing a broad foundation in the theoretical branches of mathematics, this track is designed for students who plan to pursue graduate study in mathematics. In addition to the eleven core courses in the major listed above, degree candidates in this program track are required to complete the following:

MA - 351 Fundamentals of Modern Geometry Credits: 3
MA - 445 Advanced Calculus Credits: 3
MA - 471 Abstract Algebra Credits: 3
two additional mathematics courses at the 300 and 400 levels
